Netherlands Water Partnership: creating impact with the Dutch water sector
The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) is a network organisation. Membership is open to Dutch organisations in the water sector, such as knowledge institutions, businesses, NGOs and public bodies.
As a delta country, the Netherlands has learned to deal with water challenges in exceptional ways. As a result, the country has gained vast experience and a solid reputation in integrated water management. NWP believes this knowledge can be put to good use to solve some of the most critical water issues facing the world today. NWP helps translate these water challenges into opportunities for the Dutch water sector, to achieve higher global impact and lead to the transformative change that is necessary in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The Netherlands Water Partnership currently has over 180 members.
Water and sustainability
NWP members are actively working on sustainable water solutions worldwide. For example, NWP member Deltares has offices in the Gulf region and has been involved in various nearshore developments, including Palm Islands in Dubai. Dredging company Van Oord was also involved in this project. LG Sonic, another NWP member, is collaborating with Dubai Municipality in a project to reduce algal blooms in the Al Qudra lakes.
Learning from each other
After 20 years of fostering knowledge-sharing, international collaboration and multidisciplinary project involvement, NWP has become the first point of call for anyone seeking Dutch water expertise, from water management and flood prevention to drinking water. As a network organisation, NWP’s mission is to help solve global water issues. By increasing international visibility, enabling collaboration, connecting market insights with solutions and pro-actively developing opportunities, NWP boosts the Dutch water sector’s commercial success.
